Course

Swim

This is a 400 meter out and back swim with a deep water start in the shadow of the Butte.

Athletes will exit the water and then utilize the rock walkway up to the transition area. This is a unique venue, and will lend itself to an exciting event. Spectators will have amazing views of the swim from the Dam Site Marina and will be able to watch the swim from a very different angle.

Bike

The 12 mile Dam It Man bike course was laid out by an athlete who loves to bike, and likes a challenge…this bike course has 1,400 feet of climbing in it!

You will leave T1 and head out onto the Elephant Butte Dam (closed to the public with the exception of the Dam It Man & Elephant Man triathlons) this portion of the bike takes you across both dams and into the town of Elephant Butte. A left turn brings you down to the entrance to scenic Turtleback Mountain Resort. As you drop down into TMR you will be greeted by beautiful views of Sierra del Rio golf course and Turtleback Mountain. Up and out of TMR a quick climb brings you back onto the highway and a long downhill into Truth or Consequences. This stretch offers amazing vistas that you will not soon forget. That is until you take a left onto Hwy 51 and start the long climb back to transition. Words don’t really do it justice the course profile says it all.  This final big climb affords you even more fantastic views of the Dam, the Rio Grande and Elephant Butte. A left turn at the top of the hill & you speed back into transition.

Run

Leaving T2 will take you up into the Winding Roads area on this 2.25 mileout and back run course. This area contains tons of stone work put in by the CCC back in the early 1900’s. Views from this area are stunning. As you run out of the park on this route the vistas are panoramic. As you leave the Park you head onto Hwy 51 and down to the turn around. Although hilly, this should be a fast run course.
